This post is just a tad late, as I'm sure you can imagine we have been pretty busy lately..since my baby boy has arrived and everything :) Sweet Landon Patrick came into the world on Wednesday, September 15, 2010. Everything that happened leading up to his arrival was so surreal to me.. I went to bed on tuesday night feeling pretty normal.. I had been having contractions throughout the day but nothing that made me think I was going into labor or anything. (Keep in mind, Landon's due date isn't until Oct 13) Anyways, I woke up at about 2:30am and I really thought I just peed my pants a little. haha! I went to the bathroom and sat on the toilet (sorry.. Too much info?) for about 2 hours and the leakage would. not. stop. It was barely coming out though, so I really didnt think that my water was breaking, but I came to my senses and thought if my water really is breaking, I need to do something about this asap. So I woke up Logan and told him what was going on.. he went and got his dad? who then went and got dyanna up.. she jumped out of bed and confirmed that my water was most likely breaking and we needed to call the doc. Poor guy, getting called just after 4am. Anyway, he said to go straight to the hospital.. so just before 5 logan and I got to Pomerado Hospital. The nurse checked me out and said "yep your water broke" I was also 80% effaced and 2 cm dialated.. with contractions every few minutes. Crazy. I was in shock a little bit i think.
We got situated in our room and what not.. by about 10:45 I was dialated 4cm and this is when I started to get a little scared. You see, they came in to do my epidural at 8:30.. and well by 10:45 I was still feeling contractions and though they weren't excruciating.. it hurt enough to make me uncomfortable. So I asked the nurse what needed to happen so that I wouldnt feel it when I started pushing.. she rolled me over to my side to make sure the rest of my body got numb. That didnt work.. and before I knew it, it was a little past 11am and they told me I was at 10 cm and it was time to push. Ahh. So not ready for that pain! Haha, I kept asking the nurses "Am I going to feel this?!" No one answered me...and I knew this was going to hurt. But only one way out right? I pushed for 40 minutes, and though it was so not fun at all.. my sweet baby boy was in my arms by 11:55. The pain didnt matter anymore, and all I cared about was the tiny human laying on my chest. I couldnt believe the amount of hair he had! and his sweet chin dimple, and all his other precious features. He weighed 6lbs 8oz, and was 19in long. Perfection. The day went lovely, and family came to see our sweet little. Everyone is in love with him.
The first night in the hospital was a little bit of a blur. He slept on my chest most of the night, and seemed to be doing pretty well, but early in the morning the nurse noticed his breathing was pretty rapid. She checked him out and thought she should take him to the NICU so they can check him on the monitors and all that stuff. I was worried, but I figured it was just procedure and he would be just fine and back in my arms in no time. They came back a few hours later and told his breathing was way too fast, and it was possibly a pneumonia, and he would most likely stay in the NICU for a while. The next day, they said it was pneumonia and he had to be on antibiotics in the NICU for 7 days. Logan and I went to the hospital every day and spent pretty much all day there. It was so hard having to say goodbye to our little man everytime we went home..I just couldnt wait to have him home with us. As hard as it was, the nurses in the NICU were absolutely amazing. Every single one of them were so great, and took such wonderful care of Landon. He was the only baby in there, so he had 1 on 1 attention the whole time. All the nurses fell in love with him, and one of them even made him a blanket on his last night there :)
We finally got to take him home on wednesday the 22nd and it was such a happy feeling. He has been doing so well since he's been home, I couldn't be happier. Being a mom is so much fun, I had no idea. Logan and I are having the best time hanging out with sweet Landon, we are so lucky :) We absolutely love our son.

Now that I'm on the couch nursing for a third of the day, I get a lot of blog reading in so thanks for giving me such great reading material! :) Cute, cute kid! And now I understand why you had him a month early thanks to your wonderful details. I was afraid there were major complications or something. I'm so glad Landon is doing great and home with you guys now! (and I'm happy for you that you escaped your fear of a ten pound baby, hehe) Someday when we visit southern California, hopefully we can meet him and Liam and your Landon can be BFFs. Give that little one a kiss for me!
